Description:

In this video I show you how to build a homemade high powered burning laser. Parts: You can get 100ohm potentiometers off ebay for pretty cheap You can get you switch and battery holders at any radioshack You can get your laser diodes at laserpointerforums.com for less than half of the price of pulling them from a DVD burner (and a heck of a lot easier) You can get AixiZ modules from Ebay Seller aixiz_lasers A few tips -DO NOT LET ANYTHING SHORT! -When you have turned the pot so the brightness turns high, don't even think about turning it more to make it more powerful. If you do that the power will go from 100mW+ to .1mW and your diode will be screwed -buy more than one diode cause they can break by simply touching them sometimes, too much current to the diode or a ton of other things so you will be safe bbuying more, and if you have extras build more modules and sell them to your friends for even more fun! (go ahead and charge $100 for them so you can be rich) -Buy goggles for these things! Goggles cost around $40 and are easily worth it, your eyes are worth more than $40 and if you get hit in the eye by this thing without goggles on, you're screwed.

If you're talking about how many volts to put in, 2.4v-3.0v works good for me.

It starts to get warm after about 2 minutes, I usually don't keep it on for more than three to be safe.

Thanks for the advice, so far I haven't killed a laser diode using that gun, but then again that gun busted so I bought a better one at radioshack.

tell me: Is the laser housing, where you transplanted the powerfull laser to, safe to allow several minutes of use of the laser? The high power laser diode generatus lots of heat and can burn itself if don't get heat dissipation.

Well, one mistake you have made, styropyro, You're not supposed to use Inductive style soldering iron just like you used in this video, it just kill the laser diode (It generates EMF pulse at sixty hertz). Please do yourself a favor and buy a regular (AND GROUNDED!) soldering iron, so you won't kill anything.

I think 5 volts is too high for this but with a 3 volt adapter a 15 ohm resistor would work perfect.

Go to laserpointerforums . com a guy is selling these for $110 and they come in a mini flashlight style case and they burn really good! They're focusable too. If you can't find the topic where he sells them just send a PM to the member Kenom.
