Il disoccupato Benigno alla disperata ricerca di una casa. Ne visita diverse ma non avendo i soldi necessari (cento milioni di lire) gli consigliano di farseli dare in banca. In banca gli chiedono garanzie e se ha soldi investiti ma lui non crede che con i suoi vestiti ci si possa ricavare molto. Il dialogo con il direttore si altera fino a che si arrabbia e paragona la banca ad un ortolano che prima di darti una melanzana si vuole sincerare che tu abbia molti altre melanzane. Non riuscendo a comprendere il senso dei meccanismi bancari arriva a litigare furiosamente con il direttore.
