tsport100 ::: Favorites Ha, almost forgot to mention that deleting an ICE from your car will remove an enormous heat source (ICE engine and mechanical transmission) that is better at converting petrol into heat (85%) than it is at driving a vehicle down the road (only 15% of the energy in your fuel tank drives the car and accessories). Sitting alongside an ICE surely places an enormous burden on the AC system with exhaust, engine and gearbox all radiating through the floor. Another is the removal of the engine cooling system from right next to the A/C radiator, so the compressor doesn't have to fight that heat sink. Remove the A/C magnetic clutch, add good window tinting and climate control and the results will push your energy dollar much further. A wiper motor, headlights and ventilation fan may not draw too much juice but the A/C compressor is going to definitely take it's toll on the battery capacity and total range. My longest trips are around 300 miles, much of it in sweltering desert heat.
